Things to Do in Binghamton

Carousels, spiedies, Double-A baseball and one of America's oldest zoos — organized by season so you can plan.

Spring

Opening days & first Fridays

Binghamton Rumble Ponies baseball opens at Mirabito Stadium — affordable, family-friendly Double-A baseball (Mets affiliate). First Friday art walks run downtown year-round. Trails reopen at Chenango Valley State Park and Aqua-Terra Park, and the Broome County Regional Farmers Market (year-round, Saturdays) fills with spring produce.

Summer

Spiedie Fest season

Spiedie Fest & Balloon Rally (August, Otsiningo Park) is the signature event — hot air balloons, concerts and every spiedie variation imaginable. Add the Dick's Sporting Goods Open in Endicott, July Fest downtown, carousel rides at the area's historic carousels (Broome County is the "Carousel Capital of the World" — six antique carousels, free to ride), and swimming at Chenango Valley State Park.

Fall

The best season here

Fall foliage in the hills, apple picking at local orchards like Apple Hills, Binghamton University sports, haunted and harvest events at Roberson Museum, and crisp Rec Park afternoons. The Cider Mill in Endicott is a beloved fall institution for cider, donuts and its theatre Playhouse season.

Winter

Embrace it

Binghamton Black Bears hockey at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena, skiing and snowboarding at Greek Peak (about 40 minutes north), the Roberson's Home for the Holidays displays, Kopernik Observatory winter skies, and ice skating and sledding across county parks. Winter here is long — locals who lean in, enjoy it.
